Building upon the Gottsu Jazz Metal Signature, we have continuously refined this model to feature a hybrid design that combines Vintage Brass and Copper. The shank utilizes copper, characterized by its outstanding durability and a beautiful hammered design crafted by our artisans.
Hammer forging is a technique that involves striking the metal to apply pressure, thereby increasing its strength and shaping it into the desired form. Striking the metal with a hammer crushes internal voids, refines the crystalline structure, and aligns the grain, which significantly boosts its strength. This meticulous process is what gives birth to its distinct acoustic resonance and unique blowing resistance.
The hammered pattern applied to this mouthpiece, the silver ligature, and the shank ring is a patented Gottsu technology. Furthermore, the reed is secured using our new slide ligature system (international patent pending), which fits into grooves carved parallel to the mouthpiece table. We have also utilized copper for the ligature plate and screws.

The Ultimate Tone Unleashed by a Brass and Copper "Hybrid Design"
The combination of Vintage Brass and Copper is the secret to maximizing the mouthpiece's tonal charm and expressive capabilities. Vintage Brass, with its sparkling brilliance and unique resonant frequencies, delivers clarity in the upper register and rich overtones. Copper, on the other hand, provides an even resonance and flexibility in the lower register. The interplay between these two materials enables a deeply nostalgic tone and highly expansive musical expression.
The Hammered Copper Shank
The copper applied to the mouthpiece's shank combines durability and an intricate design, highlighted by a beautiful, artisan-crafted hammered pattern. The captivating tone unique to copper—especially its vocal-like qualities—is an irresistible charm for any player. Furthermore, the mouthpiece body is finished with 24K gold plating, achieving both a luxurious feel and exceptional durability. The "Signature Jazz Metal Copper Shank" is a masterpiece that fuses uncompromising quality with innovative design. By drawing out the absolute best of these materials, it provides players with the ultimate performing experience.

“We went through trial and error to see if we could use SV950 for the Jazz Metal shank, and from the development stage, we dug a groove for a sliding ligature parallel to the table to see if we could use a new slide ligature in the future. One day, I suddenly had an idea for the sliding ligature, and immediately started CAD production and machining. During the development stage, we made many prototypes such as the shape of the pressing plate and screws. Gottsu’s new tenor sax metal mouthpiece is the result of the highest quality materials and technical excellence. This offers saxophonists even more musical possibilities.”
