The Sepia Tone VI is Gottsu’s standard model – developed with the aim of reviving vintage jazz with modern technology.  While it appears to be named with the roman numeral VI (6), the “VI” is in fact an abbreviation for “Vintage”.

The Good Old "Husky Tone" with Modern Playability

With this model, Gottsu aimed to use modern technology to revive the "husky, rich resonance" of the good old days—often referred to as the Golden Age of Jazz. However, we did not simply reproduce the sound of the past. The greatest feature of the Sepia Tone VI is how it perfectly balances the deep, dark tone characteristic of vintage mouthpieces with an "overwhelming playability" that allows modern players to perform completely stress-free.

Astounding Control That Amazes Players

We have received overwhelming praise from many players who have actually tried it, with comments such as, "It speaks so easily, it feels as if I'm using a reed one strength softer," and "The transition from low to high notes is incredibly smooth and easy to control." Because it allows the entire instrument to resonate fully even with minimal air, it reduces fatigue during long stage performances, allowing you to truly enjoy playing from the bottom of your heart.

A Canvas to Paint "Your Unique Tone"

What we value most in this mouthpiece is that it "never interferes with the player's individuality." Rather than forcing a specific sound upon you, it faithfully translates your breath and subtle nuances directly into sound. From gently whispering sub-tones to a powerful sound with a solid core, it allows you to freely bring out the exact tone you envision in your mind, regardless of the genre. Whether you are a beginner or a professional, we confidently recommend this mouthpiece to anyone looking for the "perfect partner" to play with for many years to come.

Gottsu

“I made this model to give musicians nostalgia while playing it.  The style is designed to reflect the vintage jazz era.  Although other styles and sounds are fun to explore for a while, this mouthpiece will be the favorite that you always return to.

The reason I decided to implement 5-axis center machining at Gottsu was because of this model.  I really wanted to make the best hard-rubber mouthpiece in the world, so I spent many hours studying the programming in order to fix errors by myself.  That is how I started to create this Sepia Tone VI model.”
